A simple guide on how to recycle different types of materials:
How to Recycle

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance.

Step 1Check the label – Look for the recycling symbol and identify the type of plastic (e.g., PET, HDPE, PVC).

Step 2: Clean and dry – Rinse out bottles, containers, and packaging to remove any food residue or liquids.

Step 3: Remove caps and lids – Separate plastic caps from bottles, as they are often made of different plastic types.

Step 4: Sort by type – If your local recycling program requires sorting, group plastics by their recycling codes (e.g., 1, 2, 3).

Step 5: Drop off at the correct bin – Place cleaned plastics in your curbside recycling bin or take them to a recycling center.

Step 1: Separate paper from other waste – Collect paper such as newspapers, magazines, cardboard, and office paper.

Step 2: Remove contaminants – Take out items with non-recyclable materials like wax coatings, greasy pizza boxes, or paper with plastic film.

Step 3: Flatten cardboard – Flatten large cardboard boxes to save space in the recycling bin.

Step 4: Sort by type – If required, separate paper products by type (e.g., office paper, newspaper, mixed paper).

Step 5: Recycle at the curbside or drop-off center – Place paper items in your curbside recycling bin or bring them to a recycling facility.

Step 1: Clean metal items – Rinse cans and metal containers to remove food residue.

Step 2: Separate metal types – Sort aluminum (e.g., cans, foil) from steel or tin cans (e.g., soup cans).

Step 3: Flatten cans – For space-saving, flatten cans if necessary.

Step 4: Remove non-metal parts – Remove lids or plastic components from metal items (such as bottle caps).

Step 5: Drop them off at a recycling center or bin – Place metals in the appropriate curbside bin or take them to a recycling facility.

Step 1: Find a certified e-waste recycling center – Locate a nearby certified facility that accepts electronics for recycling.

Step 2: Remove personal data – For security, delete any personal data from phones, computers, or other electronic devices.

Step 3: Take apart items (if necessary) – Some items, like TVs or computers, may need to be disassembled to separate valuable components (e.g., batteries, circuits).

Step 4: Check for special recycling requirements – Some electronics (e.g., batteries, light bulbs) require special recycling methods.

Step 5: Drop off the devices – Take old electronics to a certified e-waste collection event or drop them off at an authorized recycling center.

NB! Don’t contaminate recyclables with non-recyclable materials, as this can cause entire batches of recyclables to be thrown away.
